What is a Walk-a-Thon?

A walk-a-thon is a fundraiser. A ¼ mile track will be set at the school. The students are responsible to ask friends and family to sponsor them for walking laps. Students are responsible for collecting and bringing the money back to the school.Donations are either paid on a per-lap basis or a flat donation.  All money donated (via cash/ check/ PayPal) should be noted in the Pledge Form sent with the student from school already. What to bring: blanket, ice chest, sun umbrella, sun block, hat, and your checkbook 🙂

How is the Magnolia Walk-a-Thon different from other Walk-a-Thons?

Magnolia Science Academy Santa Clara PTO will be implementing the best in lap counting technology. We are using a system called Orbiter which uses a RFID reader and smart chips placed in student equipment to manage the number of laps each student walks. This system will provide us with the details as to which class walked the most and who individually has walked the most laps.
